“Oh darling, let us be adventurers.”
I saw that quote recently in a gift shop and I fell in love with it. Just those few words express a longing that I think everyone shares to some degree.
One of the most important things I’ve learned in life is that the money you spend to make memories will always be a better buy than the cash you spend on “things.” I can pretty much bet that you can’t remember half the things you loaded into shopping carts and purchased at WalMart a year ago. But a year from now or 20 years from now, you’ll remember the sound of crashing waves as you lie on the beach. You’ll remember that fabulous little café and your best friend found on one random afternoon or the weekend campout you did with your kids at a nearby state park. You won’t remember the “stuff.” You will remember your adventures.Embed from Getty Images
My life has been about exploration and trying new things despite having a limited budget. In order to have more memory making, adventure money I look for ways to save on all the other things. What I really hope this blog will do is show that you don’t have to be rich to live a rich life.
I hope you’ll enjoy exploring the WhackyShack and its assorted topics and random thoughts. If you’re a travel bug, arm chair or otherwise, you’ll want to visit the links section where you’ll find more in-depth travel writing at Sunny Sky Blue and Sunny Sky Blue Ohio.
